Traditional
Southwest Arizona - 2004 Winner
Future Home earns CEDIA EXPO 2004 Best Home Theater (level VII) $600,000 and up. Projects from
around the world are reviewed at the annual Custom electronics expo. The 12' image on this theater’s
screen is so brilliant it was photographed here live. A Future Home ISF calibrated theater often
presents movies with a quality that exceeds commercial movie theaters.
Look closely and you will see light from the hidden high performance Digital projector. As is in most
Future Home Theaters all technology is discreetly hidden, with no projectors hanging from the ceiling.
The 15 speakers including the four 18" sub woofers were also coordinated to blend into the room design.
Flushed into the rear wall are the 6,000 watts of audio power and HDTV sources. The columns
are hand painted to create the marble texture.
With an interior designed by TKTheaters, discreetly flushed in the back wall is one of the finest
audio video systems of its time. Five years later the original system is still presenting the family
with incredible movie and TV experiences.
World Class Art Deco
We are extremely proud to unveil the most advanced theater in Future Homes's 22 year history.
This venue sets a new standard in private theater entertainment and design. This 25,000 cubic foot theater
features an 8 person balcony, a 12 person entertainment bar, 16' wide screen, Reference Grade
Mark Levinson Audio and 3D ready Digital Projection video.
When the main red curtain is parted it reveals a stage large enough for a grand piano or string quartet.
For movies the back Golden roman curtain raises to expose the 16' wide cinema scope screen.
Look carefully and you will see the balcony with its own wet bar!. Note the projector port and twin stage
spot lights. In the far back you can see the main floor 12 person entertainment bar.
For this theaters technology, please check out Project One on our Before & After Tour.
Beverly Hills 1929
Beverly Hills, CA
This Audio Video Interiors cover story theater was designed to match the grandeur of its 1920s era
Beverly Hills estate. This modern castle, now a registered national landmark home, entertained many
grand parties of Hollywood’s golden age. In that tradition this theater has hosted Presidents,
Wold leaders and today’s Hollywood elite.
This master bedroom system features an 8' wide image with satellite, VuDu and movie server
entertainment. The shown screen and stereo speaker system was updated in 2005 to a 9' wide
HDTV wide screen with 5.1 surround.
The rose garden contains many rock style speakers hidden inside the shrubbery.
An exterior cabinet contains a TV and music system used for night time outdoor gatherings.
La Cresta
Hollywood Hills, CA - 2006 Award Winner
This Cedia International Award Winning theater was created inside an existing space on
the lower level of a multi-story house. To allow for three seating levels Future Home encouraged
the client to cut the existing floor slab and create the lowered front level. The interior was
designed by Theo Kalimorakis of TK Theaters in New York City. The side wall columns inside
the overall room space provide a sense of drama and define the viewing area.
This rear room view show the discreetly located high performance Runco 3-Chip DLP
projector. The model VX-2dc is twice the size of most home video projectors yet with proper
room planning it blends into the decor. Seats by CinemaTech are motorized with
articulating head rests.
Hand painted ceiling details and cove style lighting highlight the interior design.
Bel Air
In a leading entertainment executive estate is one of Bel Air's finest theaters. For cinemascope films,
the draperies open even further and everyone enjoys a 17 foot wide picture! This true screening room
shows first run movies on opening weekends. A projectionist operates the dual film projectors located
in the rear booth. This suede walled venue is Crestron automated with HDTV and all major video formats.
Three levels of seating for over 20. If you look very carefully you can find one of six JBL THX Ultra
surround speakers. We expect in the next couple of years HD Digital Video projection will replace
the need for film in such ultra high end theaters.
Planet Hollywood
Beverly Hills, CA
This VIP Theater is hidden inside the former Beverly Hills Planet Hollywood. In addition to typical DVD
and satellite entertainment, this facility provides true theater film projection. Many of Hollywood's
top talent used this room for viewing both feature films and daily footage from their latest production.
This room features extreme sound isolation designed by Future Home's in-house staff. Neither the sound
of the restaurant's loud music system is heard here nor is the theater system's own sound heard in the
stockbroker's office on the floor above.
Note the rear ports to allow film projection from the isolated booth. Two ports are for the film
equipment while the other two are for the projectionist's viewing. Newer theaters now include the video
projector inside the booth. One of the two film projectors is shown here.
Bohemian
Southwest Arizona
Robb Report's Magazine "Home Entertainment & Design" honored this theater with a rare cover shot.
A true screening room that runs first run movies on opening weekends. A colorful Crestron touch panel
controls the professional Dolby film system, HDTV video, THX sound, and room lighting. The 16 foot wide
screen highlights a rich interior created by the client and Pegi Miller of Plaskoff Construction.
Look carefully and behind the three seating levels you can see five glass ports. Four are for enjoying
35mm films while the fifth is for the Runco video. Flushed into the rear and side walls are six JBL THx
Ultra II surround speakers. This theater was created in an existing third floor playroom space which
originally had an eight foot flat ceiling.
You can see one of the two 35mm professional film projectors. The film projectors are so bright that the
heat from each unit is directly vented through dedicated aluminum six inch ducts. Above and between them
is the Runco 3-chip digital DLP projector. Flush in the far wall are the 5,400 watts of sound amplification.
Palm Springs
Rancho Mirage, CA
Located near Palm Springs, this private theater features hand-painted wall tapestries. The 10-foot wide
picture is powered by a Runco three-clip Digital Light Processing (DLP) projector. The front wall hides
multiple JBL Synthesis THX speakers.
Media cabinet close up. The equipment is discreetly located in the rear of the theater. As a final touch,
Future Home ensured that the small refridgerator under the sink did not contain an icemaker. We wanted
to make certain that there was no sound of ice cubes clinking in the middle of a poignant scenes.
No pop-corn machine either... cal us to ask why!
Future Home worked with architect Juan Carlos Ochoa to create an interior that has been featured
in over a dozen international magazines. The natural mountain slope below the house made it easy
to construct a tiered theater.
Malibu
Malibu, CA
Views from the living room of this Malibu premiere home are breathtaking. Certainly no media system
could be allowed to interfere with that. So how to present true theater experience to the family and friends
of one of America's top philanthropists? With a single finger press on the table top 12" touch panel...
The room physically transforms to a high performance theater! A coordinated dance of automation: the window
shutters lower, the 12' wide screen descends from the ceiling; professional JBL speakers invisibly lower
behind the acoustically transparent screen; and a heavy black out drape appears and creates the back wall
behind the movie screen.
This heavy drape provides two important benefits. First, it creates a black solid background resulting
in the best picture. Second, it acoustically cuts the room in half. Now the sound is as wonderful as the
brilliant movie image. In addition to HDTV and video entertainment, the 35mm projection was installed
by noted Film consultant, Lee Anderson of Precision Projection.
DeLuca
Former New Line Pictures & Dreamworks studio president Mike DeLuca's private Hollywood Hills theater
is highlighted with a near wall-sized HDTV-grade picture. The THX speaker system is located directly
behind the screen. The wall suede padding and furniture were selected by Thomas Biggert interiors.
Future Home works with many top designers to provide a distinct personal feel to all its theaters.
Mike produced Seven, Boogie Nights, Ghost Rider, The Mask and the "Austin Powers" series.
This automated theater is highlighted by a 1,200-DVD changer system. (Soon to be upgraded to 2,000
disc capacity!) The cover art of each disc in his extensive DVD collection is projected onto the 10-foot
screen. Using the Escient Fireball system, Michael can effortlessly select a movie to review with
Hollywood's top directors and writers or for his personal enjoyment.
Here is the recently completed 2006 update. The CRT ceiling projector is now gone and video projects
from a rear wall portal. Digital Cinema DLP Video projection is now silent, providing a brighter, sharper and
true HDTV picture. Other updates include: 96 band Digital Equalizer to fine tune the audio performance; 2,000
DVD collection at the audiences fingertips and the newest format; HD-DVD, for the finest in home
theater entertainment for now and years to come.
Aquatic
Windows in a custom home theater? This Beverly Hills custom home theater/screening room was designed by the
homeowner, noted Architect, restauranteur and actor, Michael Chow. This venue features a JBL Everest Digital
THX sound system, Digital Cinema projection, 35mm film for first-run movies and an automated Kaleidescape movie
system. But windows 3 inches thick? To hold back the water of a 93,000 gallon pool on the other side of course!
Now with the automated window covering panels in place, the seats are ready to hold up to 50 A-list
Hollywood guests for the next screening. Note the individual seats in the back rows. Those are actual Radio
City Music Hall chairs recovered to match the other furnishings. Acoustical Design by Waterland Design
accounts for the "4/3" geometrical ceiling for the clearest and most natural sound environment.
The 175 sq. foot projection booth includes the dual film and automatically lowered HD video projectors.
The wall pedestal include sound monitors and total room control for a projectionist. Note that one of the
three 7" tall equipment racks is partially shown.
Valencia
A common first question is, how is the room interior design? In this case the homeowner designed and
specified the entire interior following Future Home's space planing and acoustical design guidelines.
A combination of back-lit rare Onyx stone, silk fabrics and custom molding highlights this custom home
theater installation. Custom motorized leather chairs feature motorized lumbar support for the key seats.
A former rear wall Bay window now serves as a projection booth. In nearly all Future Home private theater
installations we hide the technology. One of our basic tenets is that you should enjoy the performance and
can ignore the technology. We will do everything possible to avoid any equipment interfering in your
interior decor design.
The theater equipment features three THX approved HD cable box tuners. They are set as His/Hers/Family.
One can go to any TV in the house and watch their pre-recorded shows or pause a show in one room and then
re-start it up again in another. The custom audio video rack system allows for easy maintenance and upgrading.
Cool Jazz
2007 Best of Show
Located outside Los Angeles is one of our most technically advanced private theaters. PMI Technologies
acoustical specifications created a room within a room to completely sound-proof this venue from the rest
of the house. What you can't see are computer designed acoustical treatments hidden behind the gray
wall paneling to enhance the THX Ultra II surround system. What you can see is the TK Theater designed
interior featuring Color Kinetics LED lighting inside perforated stainless steel columns. The theater is
bathed in a warm rainbow of colors.
The only visible technology is the effortless to operate 10" Touch panel. Touching an image of your
favorite channel logo or a picture of your DVD cover immediately starts your evening of fun. As in nearly
all Future Home theaters the projector is located outside the room, freeing up the interior design with
silent video projections. The nine motorized custom design theater chairs add comfort to this 2007 CEDIA
Best Home Theater award entry.
The heart of the theater are the dual racks of THX Ultra and HD video components. Mounted with custom
anodized panels, Future Home's attention to cosmetic detail extends to all the technology we blend to your
interior. JBL Synthesis, Kaleidescape, Runco and Panamax are featured in this installation.
As with most TK Theater projects their lobby interior creates the perfect transition from the home to the
private theater. The homeowner enjoys this cool sophisticated 60's style lounge with either a 32" HDTV
that lowers from the ceiling or Sinatra from the house music system.
Meyers
Hollywood Hills, CA
28 Days! That is how long it took to install this CEDIA International Award Winning theater interior.
From plywood room to watching movies Future Home and the magic of First Impressions Theme Theater
of Florida installed the complete theater in under one month. The room design included 3D renderings
presented to the client for his review and approval. Once the final and complete design was approved the
entire room was built at the F.I. Florida facility. Once built, it was disassembled and then trucked to
Los Angeles where it was re-assembled in less than a month. The audience enjoys movies over 11' wide.
One of the spectacular features of this theater is the back-lit ceiling structure. The wood ceiling structure
is back-lit by a computerized day/night scene light show. The movie starts, the back lights go out and a
ceiling star field appears. A shooting star every 4 minutes accents the night sky. In the back center is the
light coming from the Digital Cinema Runco XTREME projection. The fifteen chairs are also created by
room designer First Impressions.
Unlike many preassembled home theater interiors. First Impressions' creates rooms using real wood,
quality materials and provides details rarely seen in such systems.
The hand painted lobby, behind the theater, is where the media system that powers this world class
theater is located. Seen here is the JBL Digital Surround system, automated DVD collection system and
the over 3,000 watts of amplification. The left rack is the stack of Synthesis amplifiers. These racks
were pre-assembled, tested and programmed by Future Home before being delivered to the client.
This theater is featured in VH1's "Fabulous Homes of 2006" series.
